Biography

My full name is Christine Shipman and I am currently a pre-journalism major at the University of Texas at Austin. I plan to graduate in the spring of 2014 with a Bachelors of Journalism focused on multimedia with a minor in history.

I have spent a majority of my life moving all around the world --  I was actually born in Okinawa, Japan -- with my family. We've lived in places like Kentucky and cities all over Texas. I spent the majority of my childhood visiting the area of Abilene, Texas, only to later move there my eighth grade year of middle school. I started attending Cooper High School my sophmore year and while there I was in the varsity band and on the varsity basketball team. I graduated from Cooper High School and immediately started attending Cisco College. During that time I worked a part time job at Starbucks a Barista to pay for my courses. Once all of my basic courses were complete I applied to the University of Texas, College of Communications, which as mention above, is where I am currently a attending.

My passion for writing is what lead me to wanting to become a journalist. Since then I have acquired a love for photography as well as computer design. I spend the majority of my free time now drawing or practicing my photography and simply hanging out with friends. With school taking up a majority of my time, I don't have much room for anything else!

After graduation I'm looking to move out of state, or even out of country, and to work for some sort of video game/comic book based magazine, but of course these plans are not set in stone. I'm open to all forms of print media jobs.
